What factors affects surface finish during EDM ?
The amount of material removed and the surface finish produced is dependent upon the current in the spark. The material removed by the spark can be assumed to be a crater. The amount removed therefore will depend upon the crater depth, which is directly proportional to the current. Thus as the material removed increases and at the same time, the surface finish also decreases. However, decreasing the current in the spark, but increasing its frequency will improve the surface finish in view of the small crater size, but at the same time, the material removal rate can be maintained by increasing the frequency.
How to Calculate Smaller diameter of crater given Taper?
Smaller diameter of crater given Taper calculator uses Smaller Diameter = Larger Diameter-2*Depth of Machined Surface*Taper Produced in EDM to calculate the Smaller Diameter, Smaller diameter of crater given Taper formula is defined as smallest width of hole produced due to side sparks during EDM. Smaller Diameter is denoted by d symbol.
How to calculate Smaller diameter of crater given Taper using this online calculator? To use this online calculator for Smaller diameter of crater given Taper, enter Larger Diameter (Dsd), Depth of Machined Surface (Hsd) & Taper Produced in EDM (Tsd) and hit the calculate button. Here is how the Smaller diameter of crater given Taper calculation can be explained with given input values -> 19.72 = 22-2*52*0.2.
