Rate Constant given Initial Rate and Enzyme Substrate Complex Concentration Solution

STEP 0: Pre-Calculation Summary
Formula Used
Final Rate Constant = Initial Reaction Rate/Enzyme Substrate Complex Concentration
k2 = V0/ES
This formula uses 3 Variables
Variables Used
Final Rate Constant - (Measured in 1 Per Second) - The Final Rate Constant is the rate constant when the enzyme-substrate complex on reaction with inhibitor is converted into the enzyme catalyst and product.
Initial Reaction Rate - (Measured in Mole per Cubic Meter Second) - The Initial Reaction Rate is defined as the initial speed at which a chemical reaction takes place.
Enzyme Substrate Complex Concentration - (Measured in Mole per Cubic Meter) - The Enzyme Substrate Complex Concentration is defined as the concentration of intermediate formed from the reaction of enzyme and substrate.
STEP 1: Convert Input(s) to Base Unit
Initial Reaction Rate: 0.45 Mole per Liter Second --> 450 Mole per Cubic Meter Second (Check conversion here)
Enzyme Substrate Complex Concentration: 10 Mole per Liter --> 10000 Mole per Cubic Meter (Check conversion here)
STEP 2: Evaluate Formula
Substituting Input Values in Formula
k2 = V0/ES --> 450/10000
Evaluating ... ...
k2 = 0.045
STEP 3: Convert Result to Output's Unit
0.045 1 Per Second --> No Conversion Required
FINAL ANSWER
0.045 1 Per Second <-- Final Rate Constant
(Calculation completed in 00.020 seconds)

What is competitive Inhibition?

In competitive inhibition, the substrate and inhibitor cannot bind to the enzyme at the same time, as shown in the figure on the right. This usually results from the inhibitor having an affinity for the active site of an enzyme where the substrate also binds; the substrate and inhibitor compete for access to the enzyme's active site. This type of inhibition can be overcome by sufficiently high concentrations of substrate (Vmax remains constant), i.e., by out-competing the inhibitor. However, the apparent Km will increase as it takes a higher concentration of the substrate to reach the Km point, or half the Vmax. Competitive inhibitors are often similar in structure to the real substrate.

How to Calculate Rate Constant given Initial Rate and Enzyme Substrate Complex Concentration?

Rate Constant given Initial Rate and Enzyme Substrate Complex Concentration calculator uses Final Rate Constant = Initial Reaction Rate/Enzyme Substrate Complex Concentration to calculate the Final Rate Constant, The Rate constant given initial rate and enzyme substrate complex concentration formula is defined as the ratio of the initial rate of the system to the concentration of enzyme-substrate complex. Final Rate Constant is denoted by k2 symbol.
