Inductance of Circuit from Cutting Frequency Solution

STEP 0: Pre-Calculation Summary
Formula Used
Inductance = ((0.03/Frequency of Cutting)^2)/Capacitance
L = ((0.03/fcut)^2)/C
This formula uses 3 Variables
Variables Used
Inductance - (Measured in Henry) - Inductance is the tendency of an electric conductor to oppose a change in the electric current flowing through it.
Frequency of Cutting - (Measured in Hertz) - Frequency of Cutting refers to how often a machine or tool is engaged to trim, shape, or remove material from a workpiece during the production process.
Capacitance - (Measured in Farad) - Capacitance is the ratio of the amount of electric charge stored on a conductor to a difference in electric potential.
STEP 1: Convert Input(s) to Base Unit
Frequency of Cutting: 0.005 Cycle per Second --> 0.005 Hertz (Check conversion here)
Capacitance: 6.3 Farad --> 6.3 Farad No Conversion Required
STEP 2: Evaluate Formula
Substituting Input Values in Formula
L = ((0.03/fcut)^2)/C --> ((0.03/0.005)^2)/6.3
Evaluating ... ...
L = 5.71428571428571
STEP 3: Convert Result to Output's Unit
5.71428571428571 Henry --> No Conversion Required
FINAL ANSWER
5.71428571428571 5.714286 Henry <-- Inductance
(Calculation completed in 00.007 seconds)

How the spark is produced in Electric Discharge Machining ?

A typical circuit used for supplying the power to an EDM machine is named as the relaxation circuit. The circuit consists of a DC power source, which charges the capacitor ‘C’ across a resistance ‘Rc’. Initially when the capacitor is in the uncharged condition, when the power supply is on with a voltage of Vo, a heavy current, ic, will flow in the circuit as shown to charge the capacitor.The relaxation circuit as explained above was used in the early EDM machines. They are limited to the low material removal rates for fine finish, which limits its application. This can be explained from the fact that the time spent on charging the capacitor is quite large during which time, no machining can actually take place. Thus the material removal rates are low.

How to Calculate Inductance of Circuit from Cutting Frequency?

Inductance of Circuit from Cutting Frequency calculator uses Inductance = ((0.03/Frequency of Cutting)^2)/Capacitance to calculate the Inductance, Inductance of circuit from cutting frequency formula is defined as the equivalent inductance of the inductors associated with the sparking circuit of the EDM. Inductance is denoted by L symbol.
