Enzyme Substrate Complex Concentration given Rate Constant and Initial Rate Solution

STEP 0: Pre-Calculation Summary
Formula Used
Enzyme Inhibitor Complex Concentration = (Initial Reaction Rate/Final Rate Constant)
EI = (V0/k2)
This formula uses 3 Variables
Variables Used
Enzyme Inhibitor Complex Concentration - (Measured in Mole per Cubic Meter) - The Enzyme Inhibitor Complex Concentration is the number of moles of enzyme inhibitor substrate complex per liter of the enzymatic solution.
Initial Reaction Rate - (Measured in Mole per Cubic Meter Second) - The Initial Reaction Rate is defined as the initial speed at which a chemical reaction takes place.
Final Rate Constant - (Measured in 1 Per Second) - The Final Rate Constant is the rate constant when the enzyme-substrate complex on reaction with inhibitor is converted into the enzyme catalyst and product.
STEP 1: Convert Input(s) to Base Unit
Initial Reaction Rate: 0.45 Mole per Liter Second --> 450 Mole per Cubic Meter Second (Check conversion here)
Final Rate Constant: 23 1 Per Second --> 23 1 Per Second No Conversion Required
STEP 2: Evaluate Formula
Substituting Input Values in Formula
EI = (V0/k2) --> (450/23)
Evaluating ... ...
EI = 19.5652173913043
STEP 3: Convert Result to Output's Unit
19.5652173913043 Mole per Cubic Meter -->0.0195652173913043 Mole per Liter (Check conversion here)
FINAL ANSWER
0.0195652173913043 0.019565 Mole per Liter <-- Enzyme Inhibitor Complex Concentration

What is competitive Inhibition?

In competitive inhibition, the substrate and inhibitor cannot bind to the enzyme at the same time, as shown in the figure on the right. This usually results from the inhibitor having an affinity for the active site of an enzyme where the substrate also binds; the substrate and inhibitor compete for access to the enzyme's active site. This type of inhibition can be overcome by sufficiently high concentrations of substrate (Vmax remains constant), i.e., by out-competing the inhibitor. However, the apparent Km will increase as it takes a higher concentration of the substrate to reach the Km point, or half the Vmax. Competitive inhibitors are often similar in structure to the real substrate.

How to Calculate Enzyme Substrate Complex Concentration given Rate Constant and Initial Rate?

Enzyme Substrate Complex Concentration given Rate Constant and Initial Rate calculator uses Enzyme Inhibitor Complex Concentration = (Initial Reaction Rate/Final Rate Constant) to calculate the Enzyme Inhibitor Complex Concentration, The Enzyme substrate complex concentration given rate constant and initial rate formula is defined as the ratio of the initial rate of the system to the rate constant of the reaction converting enzyme-substrate intermediate to the product. Enzyme Inhibitor Complex Concentration is denoted by EI symbol.
