What factors affects surface finish during EDM ?
The amount of material removed and the surface finish produced is dependent upon the current in the spark. The material removed by the spark can be assumed to be a crater. The amount removed therefore will depend upon the crater depth, which is directly proportional to the current. Thus as the material removed increases and at the same time, the surface finish also decreases. However, decreasing the current in the spark, but increasing its frequency will improve the surface finish in view of the small crater size, but at the same time, the material removal rate can be maintained by increasing the frequency.
How to Calculate Depth of machined surface given taper?
Depth of machined surface given taper calculator uses Depth of Machined Surface = (Larger Diameter-Smaller Diameter)/(2*Taper Produced in EDM) to calculate the Depth of Machined Surface, Depth of machined surface given taper formula is defined as perpendicular distance between machined and un-machined surface during EDM. Depth of Machined Surface is denoted by Hsd symbol.
How to calculate Depth of machined surface given taper using this online calculator? To use this online calculator for Depth of machined surface given taper, enter Larger Diameter (Dsd), Smaller Diameter (d) & Taper Produced in EDM (Tsd) and hit the calculate button. Here is how the Depth of machined surface given taper calculation can be explained with given input values -> 52 = (22-1.2)/(2*0.2).
