ε = (h/c-1)/cos(θ)
This formula uses 1 Functions, 4 Variables
Functions Used
cos - Cosine of an angle is the ratio of the side adjacent to the angle to the hypotenuse of the triangle., cos(Angle)
Variables Used
Eccentricity Ratio - Eccentricity Ratio is the ratio of the eccentricity of the bearing inner race to the radial clearance.
Oil Film Thickness at any Position θ - (Measured in Meter) - Oil Film Thickness at any Position θ is the thickness of the film at a desired position from the position of minimum film thickness.
Radial Clearance - (Measured in Meter) - The Radial Clearance is a measured value of the total movement of one ring relative to the other in a plane perpendicular to the bearing axis.
Angle Measured from Point of Minimum of Oil Film - (Measured in Radian) - Angle Measured from Point of Minimum of Oil Film to any point of interest in the direction of rotation.
STEP 1: Convert Input(s) to Base Unit
Oil Film Thickness at any Position θ: 0.5 Meter --> 0.5 Meter No Conversion Required
Radial Clearance: 0.082 Meter --> 0.082 Meter No Conversion Required
Angle Measured from Point of Minimum of Oil Film: 0.52 Radian --> 0.52 Radian No Conversion Required
STEP 2: Evaluate Formula
Substituting Input Values in Formula
ε = (h/c-1)/cos(θ) --> (0.5/0.082-1)/cos(0.52)
Evaluating ... ...
ε = 5.87398976075089
STEP 3: Convert Result to Output's Unit
5.87398976075089 --> No Conversion Required
FINAL ANSWER
5.87398976075089 5.87399 <-- Eccentricity Ratio

How are bearings classified?

Depending upon the direction of the load to be supported, the bearings can be classified as Radial and Thrust bearings. In radial bearings, the load acts perpendicular to the direction of motion of the moving element. In thrust bearings, the load acts along the axis of rotation. Depending upon the nature of contact, the bearings can be classified as sliding contact and rolling contact bearings. In sliding contact bearings, the sliding takes place along the surfaces of contact between the moving element and the fixed element. The sliding contact bearings are also known as plain bearings. In rolling contact bearings, the steel balls or rollers, are interposed between the moving and fixed elements. The balls offer rolling friction at two points for each ball or roller.

How are sliding contact bearings classified?

The sliding contact bearings in which the sliding action is guided in a straight line and carrying radial loads may be called slipper or guide bearings and those in which the sliding action is along the circumference of a circle or an arc of a circle are known as a journal or sleeve bearings. When the angle of contact of the bearing with the journal is 360° then the bearing is called a full journal bearing and is used to accommodate bearing loads in any radial direction. When the angle of contact of the bearing with the journal is 120°, then the bearing is said to be partial journal bearing. This type of bearing has less friction than full journal bearing, but it can be used only where the load is always in one direction. The full and partial journal bearings may be called clearance bearings because the diameter of the journal is less than that of bearing. When a partial journal bearing has no clearance i.e. the diameters of the journal and bearing are equal, then the bearing is called a fitted bearing.
